The saying goes that a picture is worth a thousand words. If that is true, then a video should be worth a million. Everyone I know prefers to watch a video so I’m always happy when we can offer our customers a video to help explain drilling procedures. Many people in mineral exploration industry are technical and very visual so an animated video is one of the best ways to illustrate how things work.
We wrote a few blogs on how core bits can be damaged before they go down the hole, on the way down the hole and once they get to the bottom of the hole. We always say choosing the right bit is an important decision that affects drilling performance. Core bits can be an expensive piece of drilling equipment, so this topic is of interest to many drillers and companies. Learn more about choosing core bits here.
In the blogs we looked at some problems that can happen when you’re adding or changing a new core bit. These include lowering your drill rods too quickly, catching the edges of the bit on fractured ground or accidently releasing the core bit in the bore hole. Because it’s hard to see what goes on at the bottom of the hole, you may not be able to avoid some of these issues. Without always knowing what’s going on down there, you have to count on your gauges to help you.
The marketing department and the technical crew decided that investing in the production of a video would help “illustrate” what the blogs were describing. Take a look and tell us what you think.
We get a lot of suggestions for blogs and we try to accommodate as many as we can. If you have an issue, a question about a particular procedure, or piece of equipment, let us know and we’ll see if we can help you out.
